How To Use PainFix Relief Gel

By PainFix co-founder Yen Tse Yap

Application

The simplest way to apply Relief Gel is to rub a thin layer over sore or soon-to-be stressed areas and wait for the gel to absorb into your skin. This works best for areas that are too tender to massage. Apply up to four times per day, but no more. We mean it, you Relief Gel Superfans (you know who you are): no more than two tubes per week.

For best results, we recommend including a some massage techniques as you rub Relief Gel into your muscles and joints. Here are suggestions for specific areas of your body:

Neck

Spread a thin layer of Relief Gel over your neck. Using both hands, place three fingers on either side of your spine, and massage the neck muscles, gradually moving towards your shoulders. Repeat until the gel is absorbed.

If you have pain in the vertebrae of your neck, be careful to only apply light and gentle pressure on your spine.

If the tension is at the base of your skull, use small circular rubbing motions with both thumbs all along the base.

Get a friend to help you with your massage too.

Shoulder

Apply a pea-sized amount of Relief Gel to your shoulder. Spread the gel around the shoulder muscles and joint. Using your fingers, focus on trigger points—small bumps or knots that feel painful when you apply pressure. Massage the gel in and around the knots until fully absorbed. If the pain area is hard to reach, get help from a friend.

Arm and Elbow

Apply a nickel-sized amount of Relief Gel on your arm. Using up-and-down firm strokes, grip your arm with your other hand and massage from your wrist to your elbow, and from your elbow to your shoulder. For your elbow, use your thumb to rub small circles around the tender areas, applying light pressure.

Wrist

Support your wrist with your hand and massage your wrist (both sides) with your thumb using the Relief Gel. Next, rub circles around the base of your palm, gradually moving to the base of your fingers. Finally, massage from your wrist to your forearm.

Lower Back

Your lower back is a pretty large area and pain in one part of your lower back can easily spread, making it difficult to pinpoint the root of the problem. Rub a generous amount of Relief Gel around the area that is most sore, using deep circular motions. When you find a knot or muscle spasm, spend a bit more time massaging that spot. Expand your massage outwards from those knots, making sure that enough gel is being applied to the surrounding areas.

If the pain is around your spine, use both thumbs on either side of your spine and pull down toward your hips with long even strokes, using the Relief Gel as a lubricant until it is absorbed. Next, lightly and gently apply the gel over your spine.

Glutes

Your glutes (or butt area) is made up of the most powerful muscles in your body, and spasms here can be hard to reach. After applying the Relief Gel, try using a tennis ball wrapped with plastic wrap. Sit on it carefully, rolling the tennis ball around on each side of your glutes. When you find a knot, focus a little longer on this area.

Reach for your Relief Gel not just when you’re in pain, but also when you’re planning ahead.

Knees

After spreading some Relief Gel over your knee, use both your thumbs to stroke downwards from the top of your knee and around your knee cap. Then, gently rub your knee cap all over. Finally, using your fingers this time, massage the back of your knee with circular strokes, making sure you also get enough Relief Gel there.

Calves

With both thumbs rubbing in a circular motion, start from the center of your calf muscle and move outwards, working systematically along the entire calf.

Keep PainFix Relief Gel close.

When you leave the house, bring your Relief Gel in your bag. Take it along to the office to relieve cricks in your neck while you’re at your computer. Keep one in your backpack when you’re travelling so that you’re prepared for any sprains or strains that may happen.
